The integration of NFC tags with HomeKit offers a streamlined approach to managing your smart home environment. This app is designed for users with iPhone 7 or later, providing a straightforward method to program NFC tags and link them to specific HomeKit scenes.

 <li>Add the HomeTags widget to your lock screen for convenient access to scene activation.</li>
 <li>Utilize background scanning on iPhone XS and later models to enable quick link notifications which allow for effortless scene triggering without the need to manually access the app.</li>
</ul>

The process is user-friendly:
<ol>
 <li>Program NFC tags using the "+" button.</li>
 <li>Assign a HomeKit scene to each NFC tag.</li>
 <li>Slide over to "Scan" and tap the programmed NFC tag to trigger the assigned scene effortlessly.</li>
</ol>

This app eliminates the need for verbal commands like, “Hey Siri! It’s movie time,” which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. For those moments when silence is important or when privacy is a concern, tapping an NFC tag provides an immediate and discreet way to activate your desired scene.

HomeTags effectively utilizes the HomeKit framework, loading the scenes you have established in HomeKit and associating each NFC tag with its corresponding scene. For example, an NFC tag placed on your bedside table can be linked to a “Relax In Bed” scene, allowing for effortless activation simply by scanning the tag. It’s important to note that HomeTags does not control individual accessories; instead, it facilitates the activation of predefined scenes that you have already configured within the Home app on your iOS or macOS device.
